'Empire' Season Two Premiere Recap

The new season started with everyone trying to #FreeLucious from jail (after he was arrested in the season finale for killing Bunky). Cookie, Anika, Andre and Hakeem are trying to impress Mimi, an investor (Marisa Tomei), so they can complete a hostile takeover.

Chris Rock made an appearance in prison with Lucious as someone him and Cookie used to run with when they were in the drug trade. AKA Frankie, the guy who Cookie snitched on last season.

(Also the prison they’re in looks nicer than most homes).

Jamal’s music is suffering because he’s too busy running the Empire in Lucious’s absence, but it hasn’t stopped him from his new romantic endeavour.

Despite originally agreeing to invest with Cookie et al, Mimi ended up investing with the other side. 

Frankie sent Cookie a warning, and so Lucious had him killed, because he’s the most powerful man in prison now.

Oh, did we mention Cookie dressed up as a gorilla? Because she did.
