'Code Black' Review

Good news for Grey's Anatomy fans: they've rewritten the show and named it Code Black. Basically beat-for-beat it's identical to the decade old Grey's.

The show takes place in the busiest ER in America. According to this show the term Code Black means when an ER is over capacity (a quick internet search proves otherwise, but ok).

A bunch of fresh-out-of-med-school docs are starting their residency to learn emergency medical care from the best. (Sound familiar?)

Of course each character has their own personal story that will make us sympathize with them. Like our main Doctor, Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden), who had something ominous bad happen to her that makes her who she is today.

While I adore Grey's, and the idea of a new version of it is appealing, it's almost too similar. I'll give it a few episodes, but it definitely needs to separate itself and make itself unique to keep our attention.

(Okay, but seriously, when Code Black is used in real life - because it's not always - it's used mostly for Bomb Threats. As Grey's Anatomy accurately taught us. Code Black intones a serious emergency, why not choose another fake code to name this show after? This makes zero sense. I thought the show was going to have a lot of bombs. Such a disappointment.)

Code Black airs Wednesdays at 10pm on CBS.
