The 2015 Emmys are officially on their way, with the announcement of the nominees this morning. See the full list below.
Some first thoughts on it: Our comedy Queens and Kings are getting. it. Amy Schumer, Will Forte, Kate McKinnon and Keegan-Michael Key all got nominations (please can I sit with this group?). The snubs include Ellie Kemper, Gina Rodriguez and Andy Samberg (and Jim Parsons, but let's be real, the fact he's won four times is the more shocking). For dramas, the snubs hit last year's winner Julianna Marguilies, as well as Kerry Washington. But Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson AND Tatiana Maslany got noms, so you lose some you win some? American Horror Story and Transparent both got their deserved nominations and for that, I am happy. However... Some of the biggest snubs were the complete shut-outs of acclaimed shows like Empire (other than Taraji, thank GOD), The Americans, and the one that hit me hard: The Affair. WHAT GIVES EMMYS. THE GLOBES GET IT. Here is the full list, let me know your comments below! They also tease that "there are more than two sides to every story" - does this mean there could be a change in format? We'll see...
Watch The First Trailer For The Upcoming Seasons of The 'Walking Dead' & 'Fear The Walking Dead'7/10/2015 They also premiered the first trailer for the spin-off Fear the Walking Dead, which will premiere August 23. This looks dope. It looks like exactly what I wanted from The Walking Dead. It'll be so interesting to see how a group of people handles the initial outbreak and how quickly things went wrong. As they say in the trailer "when civilization ends, it ends fast".
Because FX is quickly catching up to HBO in quality TV, when there's new promos we take note. Fargo was one of the best new shows last year, and if these beautiful new promos are any indication, season two won't disappoint.
Also Kirsten Dunst! Season two will welcome a whole new cast, including Dunst, Ted Danson, Nick Offerman, and Jean Smart just to name a few. The new season will air in September.
An Unfortunate Event is coming, and let's just hope it's slightly more fortunate than the last attempt at a film rendition of the popular YA series. |
