As reported on Variety, Nielsen estimates that the 90-minute debut became the Number 1-rated cable series launch on record with 10.1 million viewers. That's 6.3 million adults 18-49, passing the previous demo record of AMC's other show Better Call Saul. AMC now has three of the top five cable launches of all time (with Walking Dead ranking fifth).
In both total viewers and those 18-49, Sunday's premiere out-rated all 22 episodes from the first two seasons of The Walking Dead. Fear will air six episodes in its first season (leading into the season six premiere of The Walking Dead on October 11). It was given a straight-to-series, two season order by AMC earlier this year. Season two is slated for 2016.

For one, they still don’t know what these things are. Plus, we get to see normal life in this world for a little bit, which is so weird to see, but also refreshing. The show revolves around one family in LA, the daughter in high school, the son a drug junkie, who opens up the episode by finding his girlfriend eating someone else’s face (women, amirite?), the dad is a divorced teacher and has a kid from another marriage, while the mom works as a counsellor at the same school, where a child tries to tell her about the oncoming apocalypse. The girlfriend from the first two minutes of the show is actually only one of three zombies we see in the whole episode. The second showing up in a video of someone getting shot over and over and not dying, and the third being a drug dealer that the son shoots and obviously also does not die. Overall, the episode was a little dull, for what it’s supposed to be, and definitely a setup episode. I was still entertained, and the characters and family are interesting enough that I want to know what happens to them and how it will turn up. The end is just beginning, and it’s off to a slow start, but I’ll keep watching, that’s for sure. 8/10 Watch The First Trailer For The Upcoming Seasons of The 'Walking Dead' & 'Fear The Walking Dead'7/10/2015 They also premiered the first trailer for the spin-off Fear the Walking Dead, which will premiere August 23. This looks dope. It looks like exactly what I wanted from The Walking Dead. It'll be so interesting to see how a group of people handles the initial outbreak and how quickly things went wrong. As they say in the trailer "when civilization ends, it ends fast". |
