James Horner, two-time Oscar winning composer, has died in a plane crash at the age of 61.
The death was confirmed by his assistant, Sylvia Patrycja. She wrote on Facebook Monday: "We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent. He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road."
Horner, who composed such films as Braveheart and Titanic, was piloting the small aircraft when it crashed in a remote area about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara.
Horner won two oscars for Titanic, and had 10 Oscar noms total (including A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13 and Braveheart).
