The MMVAs are just like anything Canada tries to do - lamer and lower quality production than anything anywhere else. But it's still a fun thing for 13-year-olds in Canada to feel close to.
Basically The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran (who also hosted, more on that below) won all the awards. Drake made an appearance. They brought a terrified cat out onto stage twice. Here was my problem with last night's show: Ed Sheeran is kind of the worst. Most of what Ed Sheeran said as host was super sexist. Here are some examples: - Introducing Gigi Hadid: "A bunch of 13 year old boys look at her pictures and pleasure themselves to her." - Gigi Hadid on the Taylor Swift Bad Blood video: "we were waiting for you to join us!" Ed: "I didn’t have my period so I couldn’t." - Introducing Sarah Hyland: "She’s on a show called Modern Family which is apparently really good and the mom on it is hot." I mean, it's 2015. The show is primarily watched by a younger, female audience. Can he introduce a female without referring to her (or someone else's) good looks? It was so blatantly awful it was hard not to notice. I was expecting him to be lovely and a great host of the show, especially after all the positive press of the great things he's done across Canada this week. It was uncomfortable to watch and left a very bad taste in my mouth, personally.
On Sunday, June 14, Jamie Sangouthai, a very close friend of Lamar Odom passed away from a drug overdose.
The two were "like brothers", and he was featured on the reality show Khloe and Lamar. Khloe and her best friend, Malika, have tweeted and instagrammed their support following the news.
