The last chapter of Kaling's book provides perhaps the best insight, and is the most down-to-earth. She talks about how her confidence comes from entitlement, which comes from working hard, and how working hard is actually ok, despite what many people think.

She also talks about people hating her because she thinks she's so great. As she says: "It's not that I think I'm great. I just don't hate myself...And the scary thing I have noticed is that some people really feel uncomfortable around women who don't hate themselves." 

In the same chapter she talks about how telling girls alone how difficult it is to be confident implies that girls won't be able to do it. Which is obviously bullshit. 

This whole last section was so poignant and well put, it makes the purchase of the book worth it, no matter what your feelings are towards the first half (which I also enjoyed, so bonus for me).

I'll leave you with one more piece of advice from Ms Kaling: "work hard, know your shit, show your shit, and then feel entitled". Preach it girl.

The book focuses mostly on the mansion and reality TV life, but the end briefly covers her life since then (she's married with a kid now). 

She talks a lot about the girls who were less than nice to her, and those are the only parts I'm hesitant to believe. That seems like one side of petty drama more than the truth. I do believe everything she says about Hefner though. She speaks like a girl who was trapped and manipulated for so long and has finally come to terms with the terrible situation she was in.

It is very empowering to read, and hopefully she can reach out to some people who might be looking to leave a bad situation.

She's also very smart. A lot of the girls who came and went through the mansion were (despite the popular 'bimbo' belief). And for this reason, the book is actually really well written. It's easy to read and a page-turner. It would make a great book club pick because you'll just want to discuss how INSANE this life she led is with everybody you come across.

Now I would just like more tell-alls from every girl mentioned in the book.
